George Papariga

George Papariga is the Founder and CEO of Smart Unit, a Board Member of the Institute for Cyber War Research (ICWR), and an experienced expert in cybersecurity law with over 10 years of practical experience. He is a member of the Advisory Council to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights And the Expert Council to the Representative of the Commissioner for Information Rights.

Previously, he held leadership positions at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine and has been actively involved in legislative initiatives. He co-initiated amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine to introduce the Information Commissioner – a specialized authority responsible for parliamentary oversight of information rights, including the right to access public information and the protection of personal data. This model has been successfully implemented in the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, Scotland, and other countries.
