He holds a degree in economics, specializing in “International Economic Relations and Management of Foreign Economic Activity.” He has repeatedly been recognized by the professional community as the Best Banker of the Year in Ukraine. In 2025, Serhiy Chernenko was named the Best Financial CEO of the country by Delo.ua and Banker of the Year by Financial Club.

Under Serhiy’s leadership, PUMB has increased its profitability and return on assets. In 2024, the bank earned UAH 3.95 billion in net profit, ranking among the leaders in the banking sector by this indicator, while 2023 was a record year for the bank in terms of net profit in hryvnias. PUMB consistently ranks among the top ten largest banks in Ukraine by other key indicators. The bank is trusted by 130,000 corporate clients and 1.9 million individual clients.

At Serhiy Chernenko’s initiative, PUMB has focused on innovation and the digitalization of financial services. The bank is implementing a strategy for the development of information security and systematically investing in enhancing its cybersecurity, digital team, AI, and IT infrastructure, ensuring that customer services remain continuously protected.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, PUMB has paid over UAH 11 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget, ranking among the largest taxpayers in 2024.

The top manager’s current priorities include maintaining and supporting clients and the team, as well as aiding Ukrainian defenders and wounded soldiers.
