Acting Head of the Cyber Department, Security Service of Ukraine
He has served in the Security Service of Ukraine since 2001. In 2017 V. Karastelov joined the SBU Cyber Department, and has been heading it since 2024.
In this capacity, he provides strategic leadership in responding to cyberattacks and cyber incidents, countering Russian cyber aggression and malign information influence, oversees criminal investigations in these areas, and ensures the security of state digitalization initiatives.
He holds the degree of PhD in Law and has been honored with numerous awards for outstanding service, including the Orders of Danylo Halytskyi and Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 3rd Class, in recognition of personal courage and unwavering dedication to the defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
